If you’re planning a trip to Hong Kong and wondering whether one day is enough at Hong Kong Disneyland, the answer is a resounding yes.
While it may be one of the smaller Disney parks around the world, what Hong Kong Disneyland lacks in size, it more than makes up for in charm. Nestled between lush green mountains and the South China Sea, it feels a little more relaxed than some of its larger counterparts, making it the perfect park to explore over the course of a single day.
I recently spent a day celebrating my birthday at Hong Kong Disneyland, and it quickly became one of my favorite Disney park experiences. Between wandering through the beautiful Castle of Magical Dreams, snacking my way around the park, and finally getting to explore the incredible World of Frozen, it was one of those Disney days that felt magical from start to finish.
If you only have one day to spend at Hong Kong Disneyland, here’s exactly how I’d recommend spending it.

Before You Go: A Few Quick Tips
A little planning goes a long way at Hong Kong Disneyland.
A few things I’d recommend before your visit:
- Download the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Official App to check wait times, maps, and showtimes
- Arrive before park opening if you can
- Wear comfortable shoes (you’ll still do plenty of walking!)
- Bring a portable charger (or two!)
- Leave room in your day for snacks – trust me, the snacks are insanely good!
Where to Stay at Hong Kong Disneyland
If you can, I would recommend booking a night or two right on Disney property. One of the best parts of staying onsite is how easy it makes everything. There’s something so nice about waking up surrounded by Disney magic, knowing the park is just minutes away. No early train connections, no city commute – just a relaxed morning, coffee in hand, and straight into a Disney day.
For my visit, I stayed at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel. The hotel itself has a fun old-Hollywood-meets-Disney feel, with lots of art deco details, hidden Disney touches, and beautiful waterfront views. It felt peaceful while still keeping that Disney atmosphere going beyond the parks. The other parks on Disney property include: Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney Explorer’s Lodge (both are on my bucket list for my next visit!)
Getting to the parks is extremely easy. Each Disney hotel offers a complimentary shuttle bus to Hong Kong Disneyland, which runs regularly throughout the day. It only takes a few minutes and makes getting to and from the park incredibly convenient.

How to Get to Hong Kong Disneyland
Getting to Hong Kong Disneyland is surprisingly easy, whether you’re staying onsite or visiting from central Hong Kong for the day.
From the City: If you’re coming from the city, the easiest way is by taking the MTR. You can take the Tung Chung Line to Sunny Bay Station, then transfer to the Disneyland Resort Line which honestly feels like part of the experience itself.
From the Airport: If you’re coming from the airport, you can take the airport express train at the airport and ride one stop to Tsing Yi Station. Then transfer to the Tung Chung Line to Sunny Bay Station, then transfer to the Disneyland Resort Line.
The Disneyland Resort Line is themed with Disney windows, Mickey-shaped handrails, and fun little details throughout the train, so the magic starts before you even arrive at the park.

Start Your Day Early
My biggest tip for visiting Hong Kong Disneyland is simple: arrive before the park opens.
Not only will you beat the crowds, but you’ll also get to experience Main Street U.S.A. at its most peaceful. There’s something special about walking into a Disney park first thing in the morning before the pathways fill with guests and the day really gets underway.
Take a few minutes to soak it all in, snap some photos of the castle, and enjoy that unmistakable feeling that only comes with the start of a Disney day.

Head Straight to Mystic Manor
If there’s one attraction you absolutely shouldn’t miss, it’s Mystic Manor.
Often considered one of the best Disney attractions in the world, Mystic Manor is unique to Hong Kong Disneyland and unlike anything you’ll find at any other Disney park. The storytelling, special effects, and ride technology are incredible, making it the perfect first stop of the day before wait times begin to climb.
Even if you’re only visiting the park once, this attraction alone is worth the trip.

Explore Grizzly Gulch and Adventureland
After Mystic Manor, make your way over to Grizzly Gulch for a ride on Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars.
Part roller coaster, part storytelling experience, it’s one of the most fun attractions in the park and offers some fantastic views across the surrounding area.
From there, take some time to wander through Adventureland. One of my favorite things about Hong Kong Disneyland is that it never feels rushed. Unlike some Disney parks where you’re racing from attraction to attraction, this park invites you to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere.
Slow Wander Through Fantasyland + Castle Photos
After the bigger rides, take a slower loop through Fantasyland.
This is a great time to:
- walk through the Castle of Magical Dreams
- take castle photos
- browse the shops in Fantasyland
- jump on smaller attractions with shorter waits

Lunch and Snacks Around the Park
One thing I wasn’t expecting before my visit was just how good the food would be.
Hong Kong Disneyland has some of the most unique Disney snacks I’ve tried anywhere in the world. From themed character desserts to local Hong Kong-inspired treats, there’s something fun around every corner.
Some of my favorite snacks included the Olaf soft serve, Stitch paw ice cream, the refreshing pineapple coconut slushie from Wayfinder’s Table, and the adorable Lotso waffle sandwich.
My advice? Don’t rush lunch. Build some extra time into your day to snack your way around the park. It’s genuinely one of the highlights of visiting.

Spend the Afternoon in World of Frozen
The newest land at Hong Kong Disneyland is also one of its most impressive.
Walking into World of Frozen feels like stepping directly into Arendelle. The attention to detail is incredible, from the snow-capped mountains surrounding the land to the charming architecture and familiar music playing throughout.
Whether you’re a huge Frozen fan or not, this area deserves a good chunk of your afternoon.
Take time to explore, enjoy the attractions, and appreciate the incredible theming. It’s easily one of the most immersive lands Disney has ever created.

Watch the Parade
Be sure to watch one of the parades during the day! A great spot to watch the parade is with the castle in the background or on Main Street. When I visited during the 20th Anniversary celebrations and the parade was friendship themed and so cute!!

Golden Hour Around the Castle
As the afternoon fades into evening, make your way back toward the Castle of Magical Dreams.
This was one of my favorite times of day in the park. The soft golden light, beautiful architecture, and mountain backdrop make this one of the most photogenic spots in Hong Kong Disneyland.
If you’re hoping to capture your favorite photos of the day, this is the time to do it.

Dinner
For dinner, you can keep it casual inside the park or head back to your hotel afterward. I would recommend visiting the Wayfinder’s Table in Adventureland. Themed after Moana, this quick service restaurant is beautiful and the food is delicious! I’m still dreaming about the shrimp curry.

End Your Day with the Nighttime Spectacular
No perfect day at Hong Kong Disneyland would be complete without staying for the nighttime spectacular.
Watching the castle come alive with projections, music, lights, and fireworks is the perfect ending to a magical day. After spending hours exploring the park, it feels like a celebration of everything you’ve experienced.
I always recommend finding a viewing spot a little early and taking a moment to appreciate just how special it is to be there.

Is One Day Enough at Hong Kong Disneyland?
Absolutely.
While Disney fans could easily spend two days exploring the park and resort hotels, one day is more than enough to experience the major attractions, enjoy the food, explore World of Frozen, and soak up the atmosphere.
In fact, that’s one of the things I loved most about Hong Kong Disneyland. It never felt overwhelming. Instead, it felt relaxed, charming, and easy to enjoy at your own pace.

My day at Hong Kong Disneyland ended up being one of my favourite Disney park visits (especially since I was celebrating my birthday!)
Between riding Mystic Manor for the first time, snacking my way around the park, wandering through World of Frozen, and ending the evening in front of the castle lights, it felt like the perfect Disney day.
If you’re visiting Hong Kong – this is your sign to add a Disney day to your itinerary!

How to Get Around Hong Kong – Octopus Card
Getting around Hong Kong is incredibly easy thanks to the city’s efficient public transport system. From my research, picking up an Octopus Card at the airport and using it for your trip was highly recommended – it makes getting around seamless and can be used on the MTR, buses, trams, ferries, and even at convenience stores. While the Octopus Card is cheaper, I didn’t have cash readily available to top up the card (for some reason the 7 Elevens only accept cash to top up the card) so I just found it easier to just tap my apple pay at the MTR gates.
The MTR is by far the easiest way to explore the city and get to Hong Kong Disneyland, but taxis and ride shares are also widely available if you’re heading somewhere more direct.
Hong Kong SIM Card: Airalo eSIM
Staying connected in Hong Kong is a must for maps, transport apps, bookings, and Googling “best egg waffles near me” (trust me). I used Airalo, an eSIM app that lets you download a Hong Kong data plan before you even land.
There’s no need to swap physical SIM cards or hunt down a store at the airport. Just activate your eSIM and you’re online the moment you arrive – easy, affordable, and super convenient.
