This role was the opening chapter of my life at sea and set me on a path that truly shaped my Disney Cruise career. The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique brings the beloved Disney princess makeover experience to the open seas. Guests can choose from a variety of princess or pirate packages (especially fun during Pirate Night!), turning young Guests into royalty or swashbuckling captains.
As a Fairy Godmother’s Apprentice, you’re the magical force behind these transformations – sprinkling pixie dust and creating moments kids and families will cherish forever.
Picture yourself surrounded by glittering tiaras, princess gowns, and shelves full of sparkling costumes every day. From hairstyling and makeup to costume accessories, your job is to make every child feel like they’ve stepped right into their very own fairytale.
A Day in the Life of a Fairy Godmother’s Apprentice at Sea
No two days are the same in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique aboard Disney Cruise Line, but here’s what a typical magical day might look like:
Setting the Scene for Magic
Before the first young royal arrives, the boutique must be perfectly prepared. This means organizing sparkling costumes, steaming dresses, checking hair tools and makeup supplies, and making sure the boutique shines as a true fairytale space.
Meeting Your Guests
One of the most magical parts of the job is meeting each child and their family. The excitement is contagious – seeing the joy and anticipation in their eyes makes the whole experience so rewarding. As their Fairy Godmother’s Apprentice, you engage with each Guest, discovering their favorite characters and tailoring their magical transformation.
Hairstyling, Makeup & Pixie Dust
Once your Guest chooses their look, you bring the magic to life! From iconic enchanted buns and shimmering hairpieces to age-appropriate makeup, you carefully craft each detail. And of course, the final touch: the tiara and pixie dust sprinkle, making every child feel like royalty.
Creating Priceless Memories
The best moment? Turning the Guest around to reveal their new look in full costume. Their expressions of wonder and happiness are absolutely priceless — moments you’ll never forget.
Pirate Night: When the Pirate Masters Take Over
One of my favorite nights on board was Pirate Night! On this special evening, the boutique transforms into The Pirate’s League, and all Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices get their pirate alter egos.
Guests of all ages can become pirates, complete with black eyes, face paint, and “walking the plank” adventures. The energy is infectious, full of laughter, mischief, and magic — a highlight for Guests and crew alike.
